Realtor - Amanda S. Davidson: What Is A Typical Day In Real Estate?

What Is A Typical Day In Real Estate?

What Is A Typical Day In Real Estate?

I absolutely love this question because it’s one I get asked a lot and the answer is there is no typical day in real estate. Being in this business requires ninja like flexibility. Sure, I have what I call my “ideal” days, don't we all? That said, typical and ideal are not the same.

Typical Day in Real Estate

If you like consistency and doing the same thing at the same time everyday real estate is not for you. If you’re like me and prefer no day to ever be the same real estate provides that. I’m up early to tackle my emails, blogs, and social media. It’s quiet first thing in the morning and I know I’ll be able to accomplish all of those tasks without getting sidetracked. On an ideal day that leaves the afternoon and evenings for appointments. Appointments could be with clients, meeting an appraiser, tradesmen, stager – you get the point.

Typical Day in Real Estate

Let’s be honest, not every day is an “ideal schedule” day. More often than not that’s the case. That’s where the ninja flexibility comes in. In real estate you have to be able to go with the flow. Last minute phone call that an appraiser needs to meet an hour early, a meeting pops up, an agent on my team needs help, or an unexpected call from a client. There are endless things that can come up in the day and it’s important to not only be flexible but, not let it fluster you. I absolutely love that my days in real estate vary and there isn’t anything typical about a day in the life of a Realtor®.

Hi Amanda S. Davidson, you said it well, "go with the flow". That is being a Realtor, definitely not a profession for those who are looking for consistency, no fire drills, no interruptions. Love the video, great job!

Hi Amanda, enjoyed your blog.  Nice Video.  As in the Mortgage industry, things can change daily.  Blogs, calls, social media in the morning.  Then clients, files, follow up mid morning.  Ideal days changes daily for me.

HI Amanda S. Davidson - You are so right on this!  There is no such thing as a typical day. Love the "ninja like flexibility". When a client calls and needs something now, we need to make it happen. Nice Vlog!!

True, true. The biggest benefit is the variety, but it's does often require the Ninja type flex you refer to...

Amanda: I loved the ninja flexibility statement! We hold many hats and need to juggle a lot of activities, often with several clients at once.

I love this post. Typical, indeed! What's typical is the need to be flexible, and change gears quickly, and sometimes often.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Good Morning Amanda S. Davidson - I'm so happy to see this one featured! Congratulations!!!

You did a great job on the video. Your confidence shows and you're exactly what buyers and sellers need. Buying Real Estate is the biggest investment most people will ever make, and they need you.

Time management the big think to make more productive happen each day. Before the showing, are the buyer's qualified to buy before lots of miles, time away from other more fruitful use of your ROI.

When I am asked that question, I feel that I answer it differently everytime, haha.  It seems that there are things that I do every day regardless, but we do have to remain extremely flexible in our daily routines.

Amanda, when I read your title I had to snicker. One thing I like about real estate is that every day is different and every transaction is different.

I carry many hats and need to switch them often.

If a person is most comfortable working in a box, real estate is not the place for them.

Amanda, when I read your headline, i immediately thought, there is no typical day in real estate. We are lucky to maintain somewhat of a routine to get recurring tasks done.

That's why we do what we do.  If you can't be flexible you can't be a success in this business.  Well done Amanda!

Beautiful post - this information is something that those considering a career in real estate should know. Some people just aren't cut out for that kind of flexibility. They need routine.

Sheila Anderson that's very true. There are times when the need for flexibility is pushed a little too far but, most of the time I truly love that no day is the same.
