Being Thankful Is A Way Of Life

Being Thankful Is A Way Of Life

To start I’m thankful Jim Cheney is hosting the AR Thankfulness contest. It spreads positivity throughout AR and everyone can always use more positive thoughts.

Being thankful really is a way of life. It’s the old glass half empty, glass half full – I choose half full. Real estate has made me more aware of being thankful and showing I care. Not just for clients but, for anyone that’s a part of my life. It’s second nature at this point to listen to what my clients like and keep it in mind throughout the year. Facebook is really helpful to take that to another level. If I see they’ve gotten a new car I’ll send them a note to congratulate them and include my mobile detail guys contact info or maybe they just took a trip, I’ll give them a call and ask them about the area they visited. Sometimes I’ll just see something small while I’m out running errands that reminds me of a client and I’ll pick it up and pop it in the mail or drop it off. That’s not to say it’s always about giving a material item (no matter how small). It's not about that at all, it comes down to being genuine and thoughtful – if they’ve been on my mind I’ll call or drop a note in the mail. Showing clients that we’re thankful can truly be as simple as that.

Thankful

Everyone always gets a gift at closing as well, they vary too depending on what their likes are. If I know they are going to be doing home improvements I’ll give a Home Depot or Lowes gift card and then something small that’s more personal. One of the loan officers we work with regularly always brings amazing fresh flowers to our clients at closing so sometimes I’ll get a nice vase to go with them. If they have pets we’re always sure to include treats or a toy – they’re part of the family too!

Roses

During the holidays I send out handwritten cards to every client. Some of my clients also get a gift and what I give varies by year and also by client. There’s no one size fits all because I like to personalize as much as I can, I do spend more on gifts for clients that have referred me business. Last year we had a little fun and dropped off a roll of wrapping paper about a week before Christmas to all my clients. It took two full days to make all the deliveries but, hearing from some clients that we had saved them in a pinch made my day.

Wrapping Paper Poem

I have reminders in my CRM for birthdays and home anniversaries but, for the most part I just remember when the dates are getting close and reach out. My clients are an extension of me and more often than not we end up becoming friends so it’s just natural to keep in touch like I would any other friend. I love hearing how they’re doing and what they’re up too. I wholeheartedly believe that if we are genuine there’s no wrong way to be thankful for our clients. Being ourselves and truly caring is what really matters.
